Busy Greta Bee

So I was feeling really left out.
Everybody's been showing off their halloween costumes.
Mom's been posting pictures of her,
Bailey and Hazel from past halloweens.
We aren't going to the dog pawty this year.
The dog pawty is on Halloween night
and mom says we can't go
because the grandkids will be out to
trick or treat us.
Wait.......who gets the treats??? them or us????
Better be us!
Anyways, Mom said I could wear this costume cause
I am a BUSY BEE!!
I was so busy beeing in my costume that
Dad had a hard time getting pictures!

Thank you Mom for the modesty bar!

To all our friends over on the east coast
we are thinking of you and pray
that you stay safe.

The Things we Do

For our Kids

Years ago our little McKenzie developed weakness in her back legs.
As it got progressively worse she was having trouble handling
the steps up to the wood deck.

So Dad built a ramp along side the deck for her.

Several years later we built a new larger deck and a ramp
for the pugs had to be part of the design.

Visitors get a kick out of seeing the pugs
run up and down their ramp
and the grandkids think it is fun also.

Fast forward to early this year.

Hazel had a nagging injury and
we needed to limit her jumping off of things.
There was a bench at the end of our bed
and a box at the end of the bench to help
them get up and down.

They would use the box and the bench to get up,
but jump from the bench down, bypassing the box.

So Dad to the rescue again!
He built this nice ramp for the kids.
 With matching carpet even!

Love you Dad!!!

Busy Pugs & Bones

Saturday Mom and Dad went to town shopping
and they brought back a suprise for us.

They were called Busy Bones.
Mom thought they smelled awful,
but we thought they smelled DELISH!!!

Hazel is usually kind of picky with chewy bones
but she got right down to business.

MMM Nomm Nomm MMM

Bailey grabbed his and headed right outside

I followed him out and just like any little kid,
I started enjoying
my bone to the fullest

Thanks Mom & Dad!!
That was really yummy!!

Can I have another???

Flashback Friday - remembering

the Original PugRanch Kids

Waiting at the Bridge

MaoYen, Pugsley, CharShu, McKenzie

MaoYen was my pug when I met my husband.
He was not much for little dogs but she quickly won him over
and she became more his dog than mine.
It is hard to believe it's been almost 10 yrs since she went to the bridge.

CharShu was MaoYen's son.
He had fluid in his lungs when he was born
and the vet did not know if he would make it.
I sat up with him all night helping him nurse.
He was ours from the day he was born until
he left us 3 yrs ago at the age of 17.

McKenzie was 5 months old when she joined the family.
Her original owner found she was allergic
and asked if we could help find her a new home.
So we took her in and of course she stayed.
She was my first pug to earn an obedience title.

Pugsley came from an ad in the newspaper.
He was 3 years old and was spending most of  his time in the basement or outside.
Thankfully his owners knew that he needed a better home.

 We will be together again!
love,
Mom & Dad

Puggly Wiggly

So I have been going to Canine Good Citizen Class.
I have been doing pretty good too!

Mom was real happy this week
when I did a short sit stay and a down stay.

I get along with all the other dogs
and the people with wheelchairs and crutches
don't bother me.

Supervised separation from Mom...
piece of cake!

But there is one thing that I am struggling with.

They tell me I have to try not to be so wiggly
when someone asks to pet me.

I'm just showing how excited I am to meet them.

What's so wrong with that??

The Adventures of ..............

"Naughty" Greta

Everyone needs a cool place to keep their toys, right??
This was the toy box when I joined the family.

It had room for toys and puppy size me, but would I still fit as I grew bigger?
Besides it didn't really match my "naughty" style.

I needed something with more attitude.

And who has more attitude than
Garfield the Cat

I measured carefully

Yep! I think this will work just fine!!

Dog Hair and Squash

Before I tell you about the HUMONGOUS squash
that my Dad grew this year,
I wanted to know if any of you noticed in yesterdays picture
how my beautiful fawn coat
blends so nicely with the carpet and couch.
Mom picked them out special so the dog hair blends in.
And just to cover her bases

Now to the squash.
Dad likes to grow a few eatables each summer
and this year he tried Banana Squash.
The plant got off to a slow start but once it
got started  it was HUGE!
And it grew
 HUMONGOUS, BIGGER THAN PUG SQUASH.

Anybody have any good recipes for squash??

Looks like we'll be eating it for a while!

Treats for a Trick

Well since Mom is making me show you all my naughty side,
I told her I also get to show you my, as Angel Payton's Gampy calls me,
my "Miss Adorable" side.
Every puppy class and basic obedience class
that Mom has attended
has a trick contest on the last night of class.
Well Mom is really lousy at teaching tricks.
Mostly because she always wants to do something different,
but she can't come up with anything
and before you know it there is no time left to learn anything.
Needless to say, my trick for puppy kindergarten graduation was pretty lame.
Not even worth talking about.
But.........when we started Basic Obedience Class
Mom was determined to come up with a cool trick for me to do.
She remembered watching Jenny the Pug on youtube.
(If you haven't seen her videos you must check them out)
So we worked and practiced and practiced some more.
Here we are practicing my trick.

AND GUESS WHAT????

I WON 1st PLACE!!
Yep, that's me!
Greta!

The Adventures of..................

"Naughty" Greta

So it did not take long for Mom to realize
that if she did not keep her eye on me every second
I have a tendency to get into things, literally!

Mom had been in the kitchen when she realized that
I was no where to be seen.

She called my name.

She heard a noise coming from inside the pantry cupboard!

She opened the cupboard door and found..........

Hey Mom!!
Would ya help me out with this syrup bottle!
The lid's on kinda tight!

The Adventures of .......

"Naughty" Greta

Mom was looking for a new puppy to train in obedience, rally and possibly agility.

"She looks so sweet!"

The exact quote was

"She is super naughty and a heck of a problem solver.  I know how smart she is going to be from the previous two generations of naughty pugs in her background. I believe she'll be just right for you."

Mom thought ... Smart!!, Problem Solver!!... Naughty??????

OH MY PUG!!!
Mom was not prepared for the naughtiness that is
Greta Pug Munchskin!

What! Me Naughty??

So stay tuned for the further adventures of

"Naughty Greta"
