Lightning, Smoke and Fire!

Hope everyone had a safe and fun
4th of July!

Bailey will be doing a lot of this today
as he likes to bark at all the firework noise

which goes on half the night around here
so no one gets much sleep.

Mom was a little nervous cause it has
been very hot here and the wind
came up just before dark.

We did not want to see a repeat of last weekend

Last Saturday we had a late evening
thunder storm come through

Sunday evening we heard sirens
and then fire trucks started going up our road.

Then we saw the smoke
and more and more fire trucks going up the road

2 1/2 Mile Road Fire

Before long it looked like this only a few miles
from our house!!
It is thought that the fire was caused by the
lightning the night before.

Dad got out the garden hose to have it ready
in case we needed it.

On Monday the wind came up again
and the fire grew from
125 acres to over 1000 acres

A fire from Sunday night flared up again just east of 2 1/2 mile Road northeast of Chubbuck. The fire is suppose to be contained sometime Monday night. The fire is on the border of Bannock County and the Fort Hall Reservation.

Do you see the spotter plane??

This tanker truck was going to fill up from
the irrigation canal and Dad was there ready to help.

Thankfully the fire went up into the hills
and not down into the houses below
No structures were lost.

We thank all the hard working emergency people
that helped keep us safe!

Have a great weekend everybody!!

  6. We worry about fires too! But we don't worry about those noises from fireworks. Mom doesn't understand why but we totally ignore them. Mom says, "Thank Goodness!"

  7. That fire was CLOSE! It is so hot and dry I just don't understand why people feel the need to send their fireworks up in the air and then they come down, sometimes, in dry dry areas.

  13. OMP! That fire was like RIGHT BY YOU GUYS! I'm so glad you are all safe. I used to live in Los Angeles, and there seemed to be fires in the hills like every year. We were never really close enough for the fire to be threatening but you could certainly smell the smoke and see ash in the air.

Anyway, hope you guys have a great weekend! And let Bailey know he's not the only one who doesn't like fireworks. They stink.

    -Love,
    Sid.
