Mabel to the Rescue!

We got lots of snow over the Christmas weekend. 

It started out with sleet on Christmas Eve day
 and then turned to snow. 

It snowed 15 inches before it was all done! 

Snow and ice everywhere

That brings me to today's story  - 
it is a true story as told to Mom by Dad

 On Tuesday Dad got home from work
 and we all went out like good pugs to do our business. When we came back in, Dad went in the other room to change his shoes.

 Suddenly there I was barking at Dad like a crazy pug.

 BARK! Come on DAD! BARK! BARK!

Dad followed me through the kitchen and to the back door while I BARKED and BARKED, 

HURRY DAD!! HURRY!!

now my brother Bailey has very bad hips and arthritis
 and his back legs aren't very strong anymore  

 Well Bailey had decided to go back outside

When he went out the doggy door 
he slipped on some ice and could not get back up.

 Dad was so proud of me for barking the alarm
  Mom cried and gave me a big hug 
when Dad told her about it

I love my brother and I would never want anything to happen to him!

Dad put a rug outside the door so it won't happen again.
(the doggie door is only available to us when Mom & Dad are home)

Snow & Frigid Cold!

Winter is here!

We had a bad snow storm on Friday

It snowed and the wind blowed all day and the temperatures dropped to single digits, below zero at night!

After plowing the driveway, Dad used the snowblower to give us some area to potty

Do you see the pheasant?? 

They like to live in the willow bushes below our driveway

We prefer to stay inside where it is warm

Mr Bailey is really happy that Dory sent him this soft and cozy blanket for his birthday.

It keeps him toasty at night

Oh the Joy!

Dear Friends

Our Dad's brother passed away yesterday

We may be not be commenting much for a few days

PugRanch Holiday Traditions

Well the weather outside is frightful

but my warm bed is so delightful

Yes Friends! 

It's Mr Bailey, hanging out in my favorite bed 

in my favorite part of the house

The Kitchen

The PugRanch kitchen plays a very important role

 in our Holiday traditions

Every year Mom and two of the granddaughters

 have a baking day in December

They really outdid themselves in 2009

pumpkin cookies, peanut butter balls and bars, 

russian teacakes, mini carrot cakes and magic cookie bars

By the time they were done there was also 

two pumpkin rolls and some mints!

Every year they pick different things to bake

OMD! the smells of all the goodies baking

When the house gets decorated 

One of the first things to come out 

 is the Pug Christmas Train!

Then the BIG pawty is on Christmas Eve

The family comes over for a scrumptious buffet

Years ago when mom was a single mom with two kids and far away from any family, they always got a Hickory Farms box from the grandparents. Every Christmas Eve mom would fix some simple snacks to go along with the summer sausage and cheese. They would eat their snacks and sing Christmas carols. 

After Mom and Dad got together the tradition continued

and as the years have gone by the Christmas Eve "snacks" has turned into quite the feast

Now everyone looks forward to the crab legs

sometimes there is smoked ribs

And we always have to have some Christmas ham

everyone brings some good food to share

And dessert is always goodies from the baking day!

By the way - did you notice my Christmas tie??

It was one of my birthday gifts from my special gal Dory

I will have to show you what else she sent me another time
