Before I tell you about the HUMONGOUS squash
that my Dad grew this year,
I wanted to know if any of you noticed in yesterdays picture
how my beautiful fawn coat
blends so nicely with the carpet and couch.
Mom picked them out special so the dog hair blends in.
And just to cover her bases
Now to the squash.
Dad likes to grow a few eatables each summer
and this year he tried Banana Squash.
The plant got off to a slow start but once it
got started it was HUGE!
And it grew
HUMONGOUS, BIGGER THAN PUG SQUASH.
Anybody have any good recipes for squash??
Looks like we'll be eating it for a while!

Wow, your Banana Squashes are HUGE. Our dad is growing punkins - still have not turned orange yet . . . someday they will. Black Pearl & Otis
ReplyDeleteWow those squashes are huge all right..are you sure they are real vegetables or something that the aliens left behing...just how far from roswell do you live? We have pug hair also, alot more when turd was alive. We are still finding fawn hair in the house, mom thinks she will for a long long time...we don't shed quite as much but we do shed.

That is a really cool sign, and those Squashes are HUGE! In our house the pug hair is barely noticeable because our big guy Norbert sheds so much. Everything is blanketed in white lab mix hair. I put my wool jackets for work in plastic trash bags and put them on when I get out of the car

Those are seriously large squashes. Squashi? Depending on what it tastes like, there's lots you can do with squash. We make a great soup with zucchini and yellow crookneck squashes. Not sure how to adjust a giant squash to the amount of three medium zucchini, but here's the recipe.
ReplyDelete3 medium zucchini, cubed (or 4 small)
3 heavy tablespoons butter
1 can chicken broth (regular size, around 14 oz)
1 heaping tablespoon garlic powder or 3 crushed garlic cloves
Saute zucchini in butter for 10 minutes. Add garlic at the end of cooking.
Add chicken broth, bring to a boil and stir for 5 minutes.
Pour into blender, blend for several minutes or until smooth
Serve hot or cold. If cold, drop teaspoon of sour cream on top. If hot, shredded parmesan cheese is yummy.
If it's more like butternut or acorn squash, you can roast them and use the insides like you would mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes.

Hi Southern Fried Pugs!! Thanks for the recipe. Banana squash has orange flesh with a mild flavor. Mom thinks it would work well in this recipe. She is going to try it this weekend.
