Hope everyone had a safe and fun
4th of July!
Bailey will be doing a lot of this today
as he likes to bark at all the firework noise
which goes on half the night around here
so no one gets much sleep.
Mom was a little nervous cause it has
been very hot here and the wind
came up just before dark.
We did not want to see a repeat of last weekend
Last Saturday we had a late evening
thunder storm come through
Sunday evening we heard sirens
and then fire trucks started going up our road.
Then we saw the smoke
and more and more fire trucks going up the road
Before long it looked like this only a few miles
from our house!!
It is thought that the fire was caused by the
lightning the night before.
Dad got out the garden hose to have it ready
in case we needed it.
On Monday the wind came up again
and the fire grew from
125 acres to over 1000 acres
Do you see the spotter plane??
This tanker truck was going to fill up from
the irrigation canal and Dad was there ready to help.
Thankfully the fire went up into the hills
and not down into the houses below
No structures were lost.
We thank all the hard working emergency people
that helped keep us safe!
Have a great weekend everybody!!

Wow, furiends, that's such a horrible fire! I'm glad it went away from the houses, but sorry for the critters in its path. It's always good to thank the heroes who are there when help is needed. I hope you all had a marvelous 4th!
ReplyDeleteGrr and Woof,
Sarge, COP
OMD thank God it went up the hill and you were all safe. We agree with Sarge we hope all the critters got away. Have a fabulous Friday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
WOWZERS!! Glad that fire went away from you. We live in fire country as well, and we've had a very dry year!! Get some rest, Bailey. You're safe for another year!!
ReplyDelete-Bart, Ruby and Otto
I cross my paws for all peeps and pets. I'm glad you are safe. Have a great friday and thanks to all firefighters and their helpers.
ReplyDeleteOMD OMD OMD, that blaze got really really close! We are glad you are all ok!!! Hope you had a nice holiday yesterday, full of extra hot dog bits in your kibble!
ReplyDeleteWe worry about fires too! But we don't worry about those noises from fireworks. Mom doesn't understand why but we totally ignore them. Mom says, "Thank Goodness!"
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
That fire was CLOSE! It is so hot and dry I just don't understand why people feel the need to send their fireworks up in the air and then they come down, sometimes, in dry dry areas.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Glad to hear that everyone was safe! I would have been really scared to see a fire near my neighborhood, thank goodness for firefighters!

That must have been terrifying. We are glad your house was safe. How terrible for all the animals that live in the woods.

OMP! That fire was like RIGHT BY YOU GUYS! I'm so glad you are all safe. I used to live in Los Angeles, and there seemed to be fires in the hills like every year. We were never really close enough for the fire to be threatening but you could certainly smell the smoke and see ash in the air.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, hope you guys have a great weekend! And let Bailey know he's not the only one who doesn't like fireworks. They stink.
-Love,
Sid.
