Hi Friends - Angel Greta here!
Last year Mom & I had a special button giveaway for
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
It was a great success and the plan
was for us to do it again this year.
was for us to do it again this year.
and we would still do this together
You see - my Mom is celebrating 3 yrs as a Breast Cancer Survivor.
I came into Mom's life just a few months after she completed radiation treatments
and I was an important part of her overall recovery.
so once again we want to share with you the story of .....
How I Became Mom's "Pink" Dog
by Angel Greta
Mom has NEVER liked the color PINK
her favorite colors are green and purple
but...
you may have noticed that I
you may have noticed that I
Two days before the start of
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Mom was told she had breast cancer
Then not only did she not like PINK
she HATED PINK
Trying to come to terms with the Big C diagnoses
and PINK was in her face everywhere she went.
Surgery was scheduled and followed soon after
She does her wellness check ups every year
so her cancer was caught early
She has a family that loves her and needs her
and she will be here for them
for a long time to come
She has a family that loves her and needs her
and she will be here for them
for a long time to come
Mom realized that during
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
she can let people know that
early detection saves lives
so she decided
to embrace the color "PINK"
and that
is how I became Mom's "Pink" dog.
Dear Furiends!
Please make sure your loved ones
educate themselves about the risks of breast cancer
and the importance of mammograms if they are over 40,
and the importance of mammograms if they are over 40,
earlier if there is a history of breast cancer in the family.
Early detection can make such a difference!
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

ReplyDeletethat is a wonderful story - our Mom too is a cancer survivor but our Mom had Ovarian cancer when she was 30 - which was 24 years ago...Mom says she was lucky - the color for ovarian cancer is teal which also happens to be mom's favorite color.
ReplyDeleteAngel Greta you are the Pink Ribbon Princess and we KNOW that you are the reason your mom is a survivor. You gave her the reason and the strength to overcome that obstacle.
ReplyDeleteTHIS was a truly BEAUTIFUL post on every possible level.
Mommy's aunt died of Breast Cancer. She didn't go to the doctors and suffered in silence for a long time. We are thankful that Greta was able to help you overcome the color pink and that you are a survivor.
ReplyDeleteWe loved this story and remember when you shared it with us earlier. Thank you for being so brave, and taking care of that monster C...we are going to wear our button you sent us everyday this month.....we will think of you and Greta whenever we see it.

your mom is a hero and I'm so proud that she showed the big C the paw. And that your whole furmily was with her to support their fight, is fabulous! I agree with you, it's important to check this parts, the sooner they discover the intruder the better the chance to chase it away!

ReplyDeleteBlessings, blessings, blessings! My mother survived BC very well (>10years). She has now passed as result of another nasty, different place and type. All cancers are just deplorable and early detection is DEFINITELY the way to ensure best outcomes. Greta definitely rocked the pink stuffs!!! I hope you get lots of takers for the buttons. Hugs and wags, YAM - aunty xxx
Hi Angel Greta! Our grandma is a breast cancer survivor and our mom makes sure she gets her boobs squished every year. Those buttons are so cute.
ReplyDeleteAngel Greta, it is wonderful that you and your mom have journeyed hand-in-paw through this! This is a most wonderful reminder. Did you know that Utah has one of the lowest mammogram rates in the country? It just doesn't make sense! Good job and we hope you are keeping an eye on your peeps from the Rainbow Bridge cuz your job isn't done yet!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
