How I Became Mom's "Pink" Dog
by Angel Greta
Mom has NEVER liked the color PINK
her favorite colors are green and purple
but...
you may have noticed that I
you may have noticed that I
Two days before the start of
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Mom was told she had breast cancer
Then not only did she not like PINK
she HATED PINK
Trying to come to terms with the Big C diagnoses
and PINK was in her face everywhere she went.
Surgery was scheduled and followed soon after
She does her wellness check ups every year
so her cancer was caught early
She has a family that loves her and needs her
and she will be here for them
for a long time to come
She has a family that loves her and needs her
and she will be here for them
for a long time to come
Mom realized that during
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
she can let people know that
early detection saves lives
so she decided
to embrace the color "PINK"
and that, my friends
is how I became Mom's "Pink" dog.
Dear Furiends!
Please make sure your loved ones educate themselves about the risks of breast cancer and the importance of mammograms if they are over 40, earlier if there is a history of breast cancer in the family.
Early detection can make such a difference!
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

We are so happy your Mom's health is good now. That must have been some very scary times for her and the family. We still have our button from last year, so please share the love with others who might want one. Mom has it displayed all the time pinned to a small basket on the kitchen counter.

We did the 2017 Komen Southwest Ohio Race for the Cure Sunday, October 1, 2017. It was on our side of town and just three miles away. We were going to wear your pin again this year but darn we could not find it. Hopefully Lee can find it before the end of October. Usually it is kept in the jewelry drawer maybe it got felt on a piece of Fall clothing last year.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a friend
Sweet William The Scot
Oh my team raised $9,232 just short of our $10,000 goal.

We were lucky enough to receive the pin last year and is lovely and Mommy wears it with pride. We are glad that your Mommy has been healthly for another 12 months. Our Mom has been healthy too. They were cured by people who gave money before their cancer was detected so we have to keep giving for the next people. Bless you
ReplyDeleteWe are so glad your Mom overcame that terrible disease. Our Auntie Kay is a cancer survivor too and always reminds everyone to get tested.
ReplyDeleteI just had my mammogram last month and always breath a sigh of relief when it is fine. My button is packed along with all of my desk things in anticipation of selling our house and moving. I can't wait to get it back out and put it where I can see Angel Gretel each day.
ReplyDeleteOur grandma is a breast cancer survivor too and our mom is always good about doing her yearly checks. Congrats to your mom on another year being cancer free.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 6 year being free from anniversary. Every year is a gift anyway, but especially more so after the Big C has visited. Continue to stay well and keep smiling as you pay 'it' forward. 💜
