Mom's Projects

Mom learned how to do counted cross stitch many years ago
from some of the ladies she worked with.
She rarely cross stitched at home,
Mom worked on projects on her breaks and lunch at work.

Over the years there have many projects completed
and the ones Mom has enjoyed the most
was making Christmas stockings
 for each of the grandpeeps.

Mom realized that the youngest (almost 2)
did not have a stocking yet

So she searched on the internet
and found a new one to stitch

This will be stocking number 24!
And not one is the same

Mom also decided to make some new kitchen curtains

She went to Hobby Lobby and found some fabric
we will show you them when they are done

Mom also found this cute fabric

She thinks she will make vest to wear to our trials

  1. Stockings are a big deal in our family too. Mom's sister does cross stitch. Mom needlepointed several over the years and her Mom knits them. It is a special gift to have a hand made stocking.

Your mum is very clever with her hands, methinks... if I attempted cross-stitch all that I'd get is (teeth-grinding) cross and a (muscle) stitch!!! hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  3. I love the stocking (although frankie&ernie will swoon hahaha) and the idea to make a vest for doggie events is pawsome!!!! the mama has a doggie blouse too... but she bought it, so she can wear it in public...and she also ordered it at night while we were in bed and the hunting dog print is a french bulldog print in reality... but they are cute too LOL

  4. Your Mom is so creative. My Mom tried the whole crochet and knitting thing and gave up. She can tell you the name of every bone in the human body but couldn't knit a stocking hat to save her life. We LOVE the fabric - that will be the perfect vest.

  6. That stocking is stunning. We can't wait to see it when it's done. That last fabric is going to make a cute vest for your competitions.

  7. OHCs your mom is most extremely talented with her cross stitching!! That is absolutely gorgeous.

You know one of the reasons mom quit cross stitching...other than it being itty bitty and hard to see. Our first cat was a 100% lap cat. If mom's tush was sitting he was sitting in her lap.
Hard to do cross stitch with a cat.

We think the vest material is gonna be a winner in the trial rings
Hugs madi your we want photos of vest and the curtains

  9. Mom used to do a lot of that stitching too, but her eyes don't let her do that tiny work any more:( Those stockings will be cherished for years and years to come.

  12. There is a certain joy to be had in creating something with your hands. I thought maybe the cute doggie material would be for Easter dresses for the both of you, Mabel and Hazel. I thought of doing that for Xena, but too late to make it happen.

  19. What a pretty stocking! Momma does cross-stitch too. She learned how when she was a young pup, just second grade. She made something for each of her nieces and nephews when they were born.
