Weekend Agility Fun!

As I mentioned yesterday
Mom & I went to our first agility trial
The rules for Tea Cup Agility are - First Have Fun
Do the course in the correct order
and under a certain time.
Refusals are not penalized - they just eat up time
You can earn a title in Games and in Standard
at three levels, beginner, intermediate and expert
The Standard courses are easier for beginners,
the game courses are the same for everyone
but the beginners are allowed more time.

Saturday we entered a game called Impossible Tunnels
When we saw the course we thought OMD!!!

This is the course map - it started with two jumps and then we had to do the tunnels in the numbered order

We got through all the tunnels in the correct order
but I stopped after #6 and looked at mom for a treat
she convinced me to keep going.
Then I got to #10 and stopped again.
She really had to do some talking to get me going again
we finished but over the time allowed

Sat. afternoon we tried our first Beginner Standard course

We made it through the course in good time but I went past a jump and then came back over it in the wrong direction

Sunday we did two standard courses
Here are some pictures from our first run

It was cold and very windy

I did some crazy running around in between obstacles

I went over one jump twice

But handled the teeter just fine

can you see me on the dog walk??

And we were done - but - over the designated time

We did one more standard course and I made it through the whole course without a mistake but we used up a lot of time when I did not want to get on the table.

The last run of the trial was a game course called
The Halloween Haunt

It was a challenging course of jumps and tunnels
We made it through with no mistakes
and 2 seconds under time!!!
Our first qualify in agility!

In Tea Cup Agility you don't have to have a qualifying score to get a placement ribbon
Placements are given for each jump height division
I brought home 2 blue ribbons in Games 1, 12 inch
(the green is my qualifying ribbon)
and 3 red ribbons in Standard Beginner 12 inch.

We will have all winter to work on things,
such as mom learning to be a good handler
to better direct me around the course

We are the PugRanch Kids
Hazel & Mabel

  5. Mabel my huggy puggy in our humble opinion you and your Mom deserved a 14K gold cup. Oh my cats my mom would fail miserably #1 at learning the route on the map and well Me....I'm a cat...the rules are we are the rule!!
    Bravo and well done

  6. Those courses look pretty challenging to us. Mom says she would have a hard time remembering where to direct us. You did a great job, Mabel. Congrats on all your ribbons and your first qualify!!! We know it is just the first of many more to come.

  17. I love that the first rule is to have fun! Although I posted today about Rita’s bravery, I’m not sure she’d ever be brave enough to go through a tunnel! And you went through so many!! Well done! (And I can’t get over how bundled up your mom is! It’s so darn hot here! The weather’s just crazy. Too cold in some places and too hot in others!)
